Spear Review
Signal-triggered, executive-led LinkedIn outbound
A signal radar wired to disciplined, exec-led LinkedIn outreach, strong when the timing thesis fits and you can carry the LinkedIn dependency.
Founder- and executive-led SMB and mid-market teams who will lend their own LinkedIn profiles and approve each prospect, timing outreach to real buying signals.
The whole model rides on LinkedIn, an unofficial integration where each seat also pays for Premium, follow-ups stall until a prospect accepts, and account-safety risk sits with you.
Reach for it when a well-timed note from a named exec beats a cold email. If you want high-volume automated email, look elsewhere.
What you're actually getting
Spear watches buying signals at the person and company level, funding rounds, job changes, product launches, event lists, podcast and Reddit activity, then surfaces the prospects worth contacting.
Approved outreach goes out as timed LinkedIn connection requests and messages from a real employee's profile that a prospect will recognize.
Think of it as a signal radar wired to a disciplined LinkedIn workflow. You supply the ICP, the triggers, and the executive whose profile does the sending, and Spear paces the rest.
Spear's cofounder ran a practical webinar for the community on trigger-based outbound, and members got a two-weeks-free Starter offer, so the interest was real. When members later mapped tools for narrow-ICP LinkedIn outreach, the go-to stack was Heyreach for sending with Clay for enrichment, and nobody had posted their own Spear pipeline numbers yet.
Where it earns its keep
It shines when the buying window is signal-driven, a funding round, a job change, a product launch, an event badge, and a warm note from a named exec lands better than a cold email.
The workflow is genuinely hands-on. Prospects appear within 24 to 48 hours of setup, you approve each one in a Suggestions queue, and follow-ups fire only after the connection is accepted.
Vendor case-study numbers show the shape of a good run, Traceloop reports about 38% connection acceptance and 90 meetings, though every figure there is self-reported.
Spear generated 90 qualified meetings with the exact accounts we were targeting. That pipeline changed the trajectory of the company.
Where it'll bite you
LinkedIn is the entire risk surface. Spear is not an official LinkedIn feature, each seat needs a paid Premium or Sales Navigator on top, and account-safety and terms-of-service exposure sit with you.
Volume is capped by design. Sends hold to roughly 20 connection requests a day, follow-ups stall until a prospect accepts, and 500 pending requests is the ceiling, so treat it as a precision play with a hard limit.
The evidence base is thin. No readable G2 score under the old Samplead name, zero Capterra reviews, no Trustpilot page, so every performance claim is vendor-supplied until your own pilot proves it.
Reaching prospects at the exact moment they demonstrate a signal that indicates readiness to engage.
What it costs, really
Pricing is per seat. Starter is $500/user a month for up to 1,000 enriched prospects, Growth is $1,500/user (two-seat minimum, six-month commitment) for 3,000 prospects plus website-visitor ID and MCP, and Enterprise is custom at five seats.
Two costs hide behind the sticker. The AWS Marketplace listing packages Growth as $3,000 or $5,000 a month, so confirm the per-seat rate in writing, and budget a paid LinkedIn Premium for every profile you connect.
