RocketReach
Contact-finder and data API for verified emails and phone numbers across 700M+ profiles.
A fast, broad contact lookup tool that earns its keep on individual lookups, and bites you on data decay and a credit meter that runs out mid-campaign.
Individual SDRs and recruiters who need fast one-off lookups across a huge database, especially North American tech contacts.
Data decays faster than it refreshes. Reviewers report 20-30% bounce rates and outdated phone numbers, and credits run dry before the list is built.
Reach for it when the job is finding people fast at low volume. For high-volume list building or verified mobile dials, a specialist wins.
What you're actually getting
RocketReach is a contact lookup engine. Point it at a person or company and it returns verified work and personal emails, and on higher tiers, mobile and direct phone numbers, pulled from a database of 700M+ professionals and 60M companies.
The core surfaces are search, a browser extension, bulk lookups, and an API. The Chrome, Edge, and Firefox extension pulls contact info straight off LinkedIn, Crunchbase, and company sites without leaving the page.
It finds contacts. The outreach is yours to run. RocketReach added Messages and Sequences for basic sending, but most teams still push exports into a separate sequencer. Treat it as data in, contacts out.
I use RocketReach for getting leads and contact info for choosing the right candidate. They found me great and qualified candidates. I appreciate the accuracy of the data and the suitable budget system. The email and phone numbers are over 98% accurate, ideal for most users.
Where it earns its keep
It earns its keep on speed and breadth for individual lookups. Recruiters and SDRs who need to reach one specific decision-maker get there in seconds, and the extension pulls contact info while you browse LinkedIn without leaving the page.
For North American tech and mid-market contacts, email accuracy runs strongest in practice, though third-party tests still put real-world accuracy near 72-80%. G2 sits at 4.4 across 1,377 reviews, with ease of use and fast contact discovery the recurring praise.
The API and bulk lookups make it usable as an enrichment layer for a CRM or a custom workflow, and intent data on the Ultimate tier helps prioritize accounts already in market.
What I like best about RocketReach is its LinkedIn extension, which makes it quick and easy to access contact information while viewing a profile. I also find the email features very useful: you can send emails directly from RocketReach and track engagement, such as whether the email was opened or the links were clicked.
Where it'll bite you
Data decay is the headline trap. G2 logs 115 mentions of inaccurate data, 111 of outdated contacts, and 86 of outdated data. Third-party tests put real-world email accuracy near 72-80% and phone accuracy lower, with 20-30% bounce rates reported on cold sends.
Phone data is the second landmine. Mobile and direct-dial accuracy varies wildly by region and role, and RocketReach does not run a human phone-verification process. Cold-calling teams betting on it get burned outside the US tech sweet spot.
Credits and billing are the third. Lookups and exports are separate pools, so you can find 10,000 contacts and still hit an export wall mid-campaign. Trustpilot sits at roughly 1.2/5, dominated by auto-renewal and refund-refusal complaints. Verify before you send, and watch the renewal date.
Rocket Reach's information is inaccurate more often than it's useful, so overall the software's performance feels weak at best. We ended up turning off our CRM integration because Rocket Reach doesn't check for duplicates, and it changes the company name instead of simply adding information to the account that already exists in our system.
What it costs, really
Free gets you 5 lookups a month to sample. Paid runs three tiers on a per-seat, monthly-credit model: Essentials at about $39/mo annual or $69/mo monthly for 100 email-only lookups, Pro at about $99/mo annual or $119/mo monthly for 250 lookups plus phones, and Ultimate at about $175/mo annual or $209/mo monthly for 1,000 lookups plus API, Salesforce custom mapping, and intent data.
Annual billing drops the price materially but locks in a full year of credits regardless of whether match rates hold. Team and Custom plans add unlimited lookups on annual contracts, pooled export credits, and SSO. Price your own pilot against your vertical's real match rate before committing.
It could use more depth on organization structure, it's a bit weak for building large, segmented lists compared to other tools, and I wish it had built-in outreach tools. It would be helpful to see how "fresh" a contact is, as I don't really put much weight into their current A+/A- ratings. The platform often feels very "laggy", and I often wish it had a more seamless feel to it, especially when using the search function.
If I had to point out the downsides, the main one is that the data isn't always spot on. You do occasionally run into outdated emails or contacts that no longer work at the company, which can be a bit frustrating when you're trying to move quickly.
