Profound

AI search visibility platform

The take

Profound tells you how your brand shows up inside AI answers, and it pays off only when someone owns the weekly loop from insight to published content.

Great for

Enterprise and agency teams who track AI-answer visibility across engines, benchmark which competitors get cited, and have the content or PR muscle to act on what they find.

The catch

The score proves nothing on its own. Visibility can move from your content, a competitor, a source change, or plain model variance, and Profound can't tell you which.

Bottom line

Reach for it when AI visibility has a named owner and a weekly action queue. A dashboard nobody acts on just burns budget.

What you're actually getting

Profound runs structured prompts across answer engines on a schedule, then reports where your brand is mentioned, cited, and described, and how competitors stack up. Around that core it adds prompt-demand research, AI-crawler analytics from your site logs, and content agents.

The boundary matters. Profound measures AI-search visibility and helps you act on it. It does not write your content, fix the third-party sources AI engines cite, or replace your content team.

A dashboard score is a read on the prompt set you configured. It is not proof that any edit moved the market. Keep that distinction in view every time the number changes.

It has some good aspects, but it was also one of the limited expensive options in the market targeted more to enterprise and e-commerce companies.

Where it earns its keep

The strong fit is a team that needs repeatable, cross-engine measurement: brand presence over time, which competitors get cited, and which AI crawlers hit the site. The integration surface reaches CDN logs from Cloudflare, Vercel, and CloudFront through to CMS and analytics tools.

It earns its place when AI visibility is a funded, named responsibility. The company raised a Series C at a reported $1B valuation, so category momentum is real, and the measurement layer beats a manual prompt-checking spreadsheet.

Is it worth it? Its kind of not the worst vs otherwise having no data.

Where it'll bite you

Decision validity is the trap. A score can shift because of your content, a competitor, a source change, or model variability, and the tool cannot untangle which. Predefine a holdout prompt set and pair any score change with qualified AI sessions, citations, and conversions before you claim credit.

The read layer does no work on its own. Buying Profound with nobody to fix cited sources or publish content gets you a sophisticated dashboard and no movement. Name an owner and a weekly action queue before you sign.

The entry tier is narrow. The $99 plan tracks ChatGPT only with 50 prompts, so confirm the engines, prompts, regions, and exports you need against the plan you are quoted.

They only get the first prompt string… Everything else is guessed or made up via LLM prompts - and the same with all the other GEO tools.

What it costs, really

Starter is $99 a month, ChatGPT only, with 50 prompts and 100 agent credits. Growth is $399 a month for three answer engines, 100 prompts, and 400 credits. Enterprise is custom and holds broader engine coverage (up to nine), SSO/SAML, and SOC 2.

Agent runs consume credits by complexity, with overage either billed or paused. Older reviews list different prices, so verify engine coverage and entitlements in writing against the current plan.

as someone who once used Profound (now moved to Promptwatch), LLM visibility tools definitely have their value.

I was very skeptical, and after using it my skepticism grew even more… Nevertheless, I wouldn't use it again.
