# Northbeam review

The attribution platform DTC operators trust when the numbers get uncomfortable, worth it once you cross $50K/month in ad spend and have someone to own the data.

## The take

- **Great for:** DTC brands spending **$50K+/month across 3+ channels** who need a truthful cross-channel picture and have a dedicated analyst to interpret it.
- **The catch:** **The ramp is 30-45 days** before the model produces trustworthy data, and post-onboarding support drops off hard below Enterprise. You are paying enterprise rates for a tool that demands an operator.
- **Bottom line:** Reach for it when you are making **seven-figure budget calls off numbers that don't add up**. If your ad spend is below $50K/month or you just want directional attribution, start somewhere cheaper.

## Specs

- **Starting price:** $1,500/mo (Starter)
- **Free tier:** No
- **Pricing model:** Per tier, scaled by pageviews and data volume
- **Best for:** DTC brands with dedicated growth analysts
- **Key integrations:** Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, Shopify, Klaviyo, Pinterest, Snapchat
- **Watch out for:** Long calibration window; support thins below Enterprise

## What you're actually getting

Northbeam sits between your store and your ad accounts and rebuilds the customer journey from **first-party data** instead of trusting each platform's self-reported numbers.
It runs three layers. Multi-touch attribution splits credit across every touchpoint in a buyer's path, so Meta, Google, and TikTok stop each claiming the whole sale. Media mix modeling (MMM+) adds a top-down statistical read on what your spend actually drove, covering channels MTA cannot see well like CTV and podcast. The third piece, Apex, sends verified conversion data back into ad platform algorithms to improve their own optimization.
The core pitch is one source of truth for budget decisions. When in-platform ROAS is inflated, you over-fund the channels that claim the most credit and starve the ones doing quiet upper-funnel work. Northbeam fixes that math, but only after its model trains on your data for **30 to 45 days**.

## Where it earns its keep

It earns its place when cross-channel attribution becomes a **real budget problem**, not a curiosity. When Meta, Google, and TikTok each claim credit for the same sale, awareness spend looks wasted even while it drives revenue, and budget drifts toward whichever platform reports the loudest number.
The deterministic view-through model, built with the ad platforms themselves, is a genuine differentiator. It attributes revenue to ads users saw but did not click, which is where most pixel-only tools break post-iOS 14. The MMM+ layer retrains weekly instead of quarterly, giving faster feedback on budget shifts than traditional modeling.
Independent ratings are thin: **4.5 on G2 across about 16 reviews**, and 3.5 on Capterra from a couple of reviewers. On the vendor's own evidence, the Apex feedback loop produced a claimed **34% conversion lift** across 25 Meta advertisers spending $1.5M, though Northbeam ran that study itself.

## Where it'll bite you

**The calibration window is the first trap.** You cannot log in on day one and get trustworthy data. The model needs 30 to 45 days of training, and during that period reports are marked as warming up. For a brand spending $200K/month, four weeks of unreliable reporting is not trivial.
**Post-onboarding support is the second.** Onboarding is high-touch and specialist-led, and reviewers consistently praise it. Once you are live, response times slow, especially at Starter. Dedicated CSM and Slack access only arrive at Enterprise. Budget for a person on your side who owns the data.
**TikTok Shop attribution is still immature.** Standard TikTok ad tracking works, but in-app Shop purchases and affiliate-level attribution remain gaps as of mid-2026. Subscription brands using Recharge or Stay AI also report data lag issues.

## What it costs, really

Starter is **$1,500/month**, month-to-month, for brands under $1.5M/year in ad spend. Professional is **$3,500/month** with quarterly or annual commitment, for brands up to $500K/month. Enterprise is custom-quoted. There is also a Growth tier (custom pricing) for brands under $200K/month who want agency partner support bundled in.
The headline price is not the whole story. Northbeam prices on **pageviews and data volume**, so a high-traffic, low-conversion store can exceed the Starter floor. MMM+ is an Enterprise-only add-on, not bundled. Professional and Enterprise require demo for a real quote. Practical minimum: brands spending $50K+/month on paid media for the economics to work.

## Reach for it / skip it

- **Reach for it if:** DTC brands spending $50K+/month across 3+ paid channels, with a dedicated growth analyst who can own the data and act on it daily.
- **Skip it if:** Your ad spend is under $50K/month, you run a single channel, or you lack a dedicated analytics person. Triple Whale ($149/mo) or Polar Analytics (~$300/mo) cover the use case at a fraction of the cost.

## What real users said

- "The reason we still use Northbeam for certain clients is the cross-channel view. When a customer sees a Meta prospecting ad, then a Google Shopping ad, then converts through an email flow, Northbeam is one of the few tools that actually weights all three in a way that changes our media buying decisions." -- Zach Stuck, Ecommerce Times
- "Most attribution tools tell you a story that makes your existing spend look good. Northbeam tells you a story that's accurate, and sometimes that's a harder conversation to have with your CFO." -- Nik Sharma, D2C Times
- "The model is genuinely good once it's trained on your data. The problem is that during your highest-spend periods, peak season, a major launch, you're often in the window where the model is still catching up. That's not unique to Northbeam, but at those price points you expect a faster ramp." -- Cody Plofker, Ecommerce Times
- "We moved off Northbeam after 14 months. The data quality is genuinely excellent, better than anything else we tested, but at $2,200 a month, we needed the team to actually be able to act on it quickly. The learning curve was killing us operationally." -- Marcus Osei, Ecommerce Times
