# Gamma review

A prompt to a decent-looking deck or one-pager in about a minute, worth it when the live link or a PDF is the deliverable.

## The take

- **Great for:** Sales, marketing, and founders turning notes or outlines into **client-facing content** fast, shared as a live link.
- **The catch:** **PowerPoint export drifts.** Fonts, charts, embeds, and long cards can shift the moment you download a .pptx.
- **Bottom line:** Reach for it when a **live link or PDF ships**. Skip it if a perfectly editable .pptx is what the client expects.

## Specs

- **Starting price:** $9/seat/mo (Plus, annual)
- **Free tier:** Yes (400 credits, no refresh)
- **Pricing model:** Per seat plus credits
- **Best for:** Sales, marketing, and founders
- **Key integrations:** Word/PDF/Google Doc import, PPTX/PDF/Google Slides export, Zapier, Make, API
- **Watch out for:** PPTX export fidelity; individual plans may train the AI on your content unless you opt out

## What you're actually getting

Gamma is an AI content workspace built around **cards** instead of slides. You feed it a prompt, an outline, pasted notes, or an imported Word, PDF, or Google Doc, and it writes the copy, picks layouts, and adds visuals into an editable draft.
Decks aside, the same flow produces **documents, lightweight websites, and social graphics**. From there you present, share a live link, publish a site, or export.
The thing to hold onto is that it produces a **first draft**. Gamma's own terms call the generated output an initial draft and disclaim accuracy, so a human still owns the facts and the final polish.

## Where it earns its keep

**Speed is the genuine win.** Turning a call summary or a product brief into a proposal or one-pager takes minutes.
Browser-native sharing means recipients open a clean **live link with view analytics** instead of a 20MB attachment. G2 sits at 4.1 across 26 reviews and Product Hunt at 4.5 across 78, both praising fast, clean first drafts.
The sweet spot is a recurring content job where the **live link or a PDF is the final format**: proposals, enablement briefs, webinar recaps, simple campaign pages.

## Where it'll bite you

**PowerPoint export is the documented weak spot**, and Gamma's own help center lists it: fonts, charts, embeds, background colors, and long cards can all shift on a .pptx download. Export the exact deck you plan to ship and inspect it in PowerPoint before you promise anything.
The first draft is often **generic or repetitive** until you give it a real brief with audience and proof points.
And on individual plans, **your content may train Gamma's AI** unless you turn that setting off, which matters before you upload anything confidential. Team and Business plans are excluded by default.

## What it costs, really

Free gives you **400 credits that do not refresh**, enough to try it. Paid is Plus at $12 a month ($9 annual), Pro at $25 ($18), and Ultra at $100 ($90), each per seat.
**Credits are the meter**, spent per slide and per image, and they climb fast when you regenerate or run the AI agent. Paid credits refresh monthly and roll over up to twice your plan size, so measure credits per finished asset in a short pilot.

## Reach for it / skip it

- **Reach for it if:** Sales, marketing, enablement, and founders who regularly turn notes or outlines into client-facing content and can ship a live link or PDF.
- **Skip it if:** Your deliverable has to be a deeply editable, perfectly portable PowerPoint. A native slide editor saves you the export cleanup.

## What real users said

- "now i paste the data into gamma and the report is structured in about 10 minutes… the first time i finished a quarterly report before lunch i just sat there for a minute." -- DifferentSecret28, Reddit
- "Gamma is probably one of the quickest ways I've found to turn rough ideas into decent-looking presentations. The AI structure generation is genuinely helpful when you're starting from a blank page." -- Himanshu J., G2
- "After you create a few packs you realize they are all more or less the same… nothing such as charts, it does not understand data." -- user, G2
- "seen fonts swap, animations vanish, or text overlap… Custom fonts get substituted. Embeds, nested cards, and GIFs have no true .pptx equivalent." -- StevenGamma, Reddit
