Cognism
Sales intelligence with phone-verified mobile numbers and intent signals, built for European prospecting.
The strongest EMEA contact data you can buy, built around phone-verified mobiles and GDPR-first compliance. The US coverage gap and opaque pricing are the real trade-offs.
EMEA sales teams running phone-heavy outbound who need GDPR-compliant, verified mobile numbers and cannot afford dead dials.
US data coverage is thin. Match rates drop and contacts go stale outside Europe. Three CEO changes since early 2025 add organizational risk.
Reach for it when European compliance and verified mobiles are non-negotiable. If your ICP lives mostly in the US, you are paying a premium for data that underperforms.
What you're actually getting
Cognism is a B2B contact and company data platform built for European prospecting. It gives you verified business emails, mobile numbers, firmographics, technographics, and intent signals, all sourced under GDPR-first compliance with DNC screening across 15 countries.
The headline feature is Diamond Data: mobile numbers a human has actually called to confirm they reach the right person. That verified subset is why phone-first teams pick Cognism over cheaper databases.
The platform runs on a credits model. One credit reveals one contact, and previously revealed contacts stay accessible at no extra cost. It sits between your CRM and your sales engagement tool, feeding verified records into Outreach, Salesloft, or Salesforce.
As an SDR, what I like most about Cognism is how much time it saves me during the prospecting process. The platform provides accurate contact data, including direct dials and verified mobile numbers, which helps me reach decision-makers faster and improve my outreach efficiency.
Where it earns its keep
It shines when phone-heavy outbound into Europe is the core motion. Verified mobiles mean fewer dead dials, and for a phone-first team that difference shows up in meetings booked.
The compliance posture is a genuine moat. For financial services, regulated SaaS, healthcare, and public sector teams selling across European borders, the built-in GDPR and DNC coverage removes legal risk that other providers bolt on as an afterthought.
The Chrome extension is a quiet productivity win. SDRs pull verified contact data from LinkedIn and company websites with one click, export straight to CRM, and build lists without leaving their workflow. It is simple and it works.
The Chrome extension is a game changer for pulling direct dials straight from LinkedIn Sales Navigator when prospecting UK and European accounts — our connection rates are noticeably higher than when we used ZoomInfo. Mobile data quality across Europe is genuinely top-notch too, and it saves hours compared to fighting through corporate switchboards to reach the right person.
Where it'll bite you
US data coverage is the top complaint across independent reviews. Match rates drop, contacts go stale faster, and bounce rates climb for North American pipelines. Cognism is built for Europe, and outside Europe the data underperforms.
Pricing opacity is the second trap. No published prices, mandatory annual contracts paid upfront, no monthly option, and renewal escalators of 10-15% per year. The number you negotiate today will not be the number you pay at renewal, and the first quote is rarely the real price.
Bring your own engagement layer. There is no built-in dialer, no email sequencer, no workflow automation. Your SDRs pull verified records from Cognism, then switch to Outreach, Salesloft, or HubSpot to run the plays.
Sometimes the phone numbers provided can be incorrect, which is a bit annoying and makes me rely on alternative contact detail providers. I also think Cognism is quite expensive for what it is; the price is pretty high compared to some competitors. Pricing is a particular challenge for a small team like ours, making it very expensive.
What it costs, really
Cognism does not publish pricing. Every deal is quote-only and negotiated. Third-party procurement data pegs the platform fee at $15,000-$25,000 per year, with per-user licenses at $1,500-$2,500 annually. A typical 5-user team on Standard runs roughly $22,500/year, and the same team on Pro lands around $37,500/year.
Credits are the operating meter. One credit reveals one contact, and your seat includes an allocation. Additional credits can be purchased. CRM Enrichment and Data-as-a-Service are priced separately. Build your estimate around your actual contact volume, not the sticker price.
Export credit limits feel a bit strict when you're trying to build larger target account lists at scale, it can slow down bigger ABM pushes. Coverage also thins out noticeably outside Europe; searching for contacts in APAC or more niche industries yields way fewer verified phone numbers than what we get on European lists.
Cognism is a solid platform where the basics work well. That said, it needs integrations with more tools in our stack to be truly productive day to day. I also wish it offered more intelligent AI functionality, such as more refined AI persona matching or automated processing of large datasets within campaigns. On top of that, it's quite expensive.
