# Artlist review

Artlist is now a genuinely comprehensive one-stop AI generation studio, 100+ video, image, voice, and music models behind one login, but it wraps that breadth in a credit model a loud share of longtime users call misleading. The tech is real; the pricing trust is the problem.

## The take

- **Great for:** **Creators who want every frontier model in one place.** Veo, Sora, Kling, Flux, ElevenLabs, and Lyria under one subscription with commercial rights, best on the Unlimited tiers.
- **The catch:** **Credits vanish fast and failed generations aren't refunded.** A 5-second Kling clip can cost ~3,500 credits, and the entry tier barely covers voiceover, nowhere near the 'make 100 videos' marketing.
- **Bottom line:** **Worth it if you go in eyes-open on an Unlimited plan.** The entry tier is thin, and music-first users are the loudest critics of the pivot.

## Specs

- **Starting price:** AI Starter $19.99/mo ($11.99 annual)
- **Free tier:** No; no real trial before payment
- **Pricing model:** Credit-based subscription; credits burn on failed generations
- **Best for:** Creators using many AI models on the Unlimited tiers
- **Key integrations:** Premiere Pro extension; 100+ models (Veo, Sora, Kling, Flux, ElevenLabs)
- **Watch out for:** Steep credit burn, no refunds on failed generations, short clip lengths

## What it actually is now

Artlist repositioned from a royalty-free music and stock library into an **AI-first creative studio**.
Under one credit-based login it aggregates **100+ frontier models**, Google Veo, OpenAI Sora, Kling, Flux, ElevenLabs, and Google Lyria among them, plus its own Artlist model, generating across four modes: **images**, **video**, **voiceover**, and **music**, all drawing from a single credit pool. On top sit a **Studio** for directing multi-scene films, a **Flows** canvas for reusable generation workflows, and an MCP server, which is a connector that reaches the toolkit from Claude. The 900K-asset stock catalog still exists, but it now plays second fiddle to generation.

## What it does well

The breadth is the pitch, and it is real. One subscription puts nearly every frontier video, image, voice, and music model behind a single login, so you can compare Veo against Kling against Sora without juggling six tools and six bills.
The **licensing is the other asset**. Projects published while you were subscribed stay cleared, client work is covered on the Pro and Business licenses across channels, and the catalog plugs straight into your editor: the Library extension browses and downloads inside Premiere Pro, with plugins for After Effects, Final Cut Pro, and DaVinci Resolve.

## Where it'll bite you

**Credits are the trap.** A 5-second Kling clip can burn around **3,500 credits**, failed generations cost the same as good ones, and AI credits are non-refundable. The entry tier barely covers voiceover, nowhere near the 'make 100 videos' marketing.
**Licensing needs homework.** A personal social plan does not automatically cover client, paid, or broadcast use, and new projects generally need an active subscription. Record the project and channel details with every export, or future clearance gets painful.
The backlash is loud: heavy community pushback across video-editing and filmmaking communities calls the AI pricing misleading, and the pivot buried the music and stock search experience that built the brand. Search complaints show up repeatedly in user reviews.

## What it costs, really

Checked August 2026, annual-billed effective rates: **AI Starter** $19.99/mo ($11.99 annual) with 16,500 monthly credits, though the entry allocation starts at 7,500, effectively voiceover-only. **AI Creator** $69.99 ($41.67) with 80,000 credits. **AI Professional** $399.99 ($239.99) with 500,000 credits. **Custom Business** is contact-sales. Credits renew monthly and pool across every AI tool, but they burn whether an output is usable or not, so price your own pilot in cost per approved asset.

## Reach for it / skip it

- **Reach for it if:** Creators who want every frontier video, image, voice, and music model behind one login with commercial rights, and who will actually use the higher Unlimited tiers.
- **Skip it if:** You mainly need royalty-free music or stock and don't care about generation, or you only generate video occasionally. Epidemic Sound or Musicbed fit a music-only job better, and the per-clip AI credit cost makes casual video generation expensive.

## What real users said

- "Unless I'm mistaken Artlist has the simplest and cleanest license. Any territory, any medium for all of time. 'You get it, you use it, you can keep it,' and for that I'm always going to use it despite its flaws." -- u/bemzilla, Reddit r/videography
- "I'm not a fan of the forced AI (not against AI but not an 'adapt or die' type either). One of my big gripes is the search doesn't seem to really do the job anymore." -- u/ReesMedia_, Reddit r/videography
- "Their AI video generation used to cost about 500 credits per video. Now a 5-second video costs 3,500 credits, and most of the outputs are unusable. Their system burns your credits whether the video is good or garbage. No redo. No refunds. I've been with Artlist 3-4 years, but at this point I'm seriously considering walking away." -- u/Pedro_Correo_Phot, Reddit r/editors
- "You'll get 40,000 credits if you pay 270 dollars a year, and to get just a 5 second video with Kling 3.0 you'll pay 3,500 credits. Even switching from Pro to Standard quality doesn't change the credits used, and the resolution you pick doesn't change the cost. I'm left creating a laughable 10 Kling 5-second videos per month." -- u/EngineeringSalt9949, Reddit r/VideoEditing
