Real-time AI cold-email coach

Last updated August 23, 2026
The take

The cleanest real-time cold-email coach for reps who write 1:1 outbound all day, as long as you already own a sequencer to actually send.

Great for

Ramping SDRs and AEs who want real-time scoring on every cold email they draft, and managers who want coaching data across the team.

The catch

It does not send or sequence. You still need Outreach, Salesloft, or Apollo to run campaigns, so Lavender is a layer on top of your stack.

Bottom line

Reach for it when copy quality is your bottleneck, not list quality or offer. If your problem is targeting, no score will save you.

What you're actually getting

Lavender is a Chrome extension that lives inside Gmail and Outlook, and inside the compose windows of Outreach, Salesloft, HubSpot, and Apollo. As you type a cold email, it scores the draft 0 to 100 and flags what is hurting your reply rate.

The score updates live as you write. It grades length, reading level, tone, personalization, subject line, and mobile readability against a model trained on millions of real sales emails and their reply outcomes.

A side panel pulls prospect and company context so you can personalize without switching tabs. The newer Ora agent goes further: it researches, writes, and sends emails autonomously from a lead list, priced separately at $500 per agent per month.

Lavender AI helps sales teams write better emails faster with real-time coaching, personalization suggestions, and AI-powered recommendations. It improves email quality, boosts reply rates, and reduces the time spent crafting effective outreach messages. AI suggestions can sometimes feel generic and require manual editing. Advanced features may have a learning curve, and personalization quality depends on the available prospect data. Pricing can also be a challenge for smaller teams.

Where it earns its keep

The win is in-flow coaching. Reps get feedback while they write, so adoption sticks where separate training tools get ignored.

Junior reps ramp fastest. The score turns email quality into a visible, gamified target, and managers get a Coaching Dashboard (Team Plan only) showing score trends and reply rates per rep.

The prospect-research panel collapses a 20-minute lookup into roughly 90 seconds, which is where most of the time savings actually show up for experienced reps.

Research from Gong + Lavender shows reply lift plateaus after ~15-20% personalization. Shift from "Personalize Per Person" to "Personalize Per Pattern" - this is how high-output reps protect their brain. Instead of 50 unique first lines try 3 micro-segments per day with 1 angle per segment and 1 personalization pattern per segment.

Where it'll bite you

It is a point solution. Lavender coaches the email. It does not find leads, run cadences, handle calls, or fix a weak value prop. Teams that buy it expecting an AI SDR end up disappointed.

The Chrome extension is the reliability trap. Crashes, slow loads, and icons that disappear come up across G2 and independent reviews, and a bug mid-draft is a real productivity hit for a tool that lives in your compose window.

The score can feel arbitrary or formulaic. Senior reps writing intentionally short, punchy email sometimes score low, and the override friction adds up. Treat the score as a coaching signal you can override.

I feel like they were way too robotic and unnatural sounding, like a prospect could instantly tell a human didn't write this cause it just would speak like no regular person would. Plus I'd have to manually research all the information on the prospects myself or hire someone on Upwork/Fiverr.

What it costs, really

A free tier covers 5 emails a month forever, and Lavender is free for students, jobseekers, and bootstrapped founders. Paid starts at $29/mo for Starter ($27 annual), with Individual Pro at $49 and the Team Plan at $89/seat/mo annual or $99 monthly.

The Team Plan is the only tier with the Coaching Dashboard, so managers pay the jump for analytics. The Ora agent is a separate meter at $500 per agent per month, no annual commitment, sending 1,000 emails a month per agent.

I stopped using all of them. AI e-mail outreach is costing people a fortune in sales. To t-up your sales is fine (managing the funnel etc) but for actual copy and networking etc... it really doesnt work here in the UK. People see through it immediately.
